  UFile is affordable for everyone!

With UFile, an individual tax return only costs $15.95 CAD. If other members of your family are required to file a tax return as well, you can use UFile to prepare the entire family's returns for only $24.95 CAD, which includes your own return, your spouse's and those of your dependent children. (The sales tax is not included and transactions are in Canadian funds).

This low fee is paid only once per tax year. It covers the use of UFile to prepare income tax returns to be filed with the Canada Revenue Agency (the CRA) and the Ministry of Revenue of Quebec (MRQ) by mail or through NETFILE.

You may access your tax data and completed tax return as often as you like.

Who is a dependant?
Dependants are members of the taxpayer's family unit -- usually children, parents or other relatives -- who have the same mailing address and who are being supported by the designated family head and/or their spouse.

Dependent individuals may be able to transfer certain tax credits (e.g., tuition fees, medical expenses, charitable donations, disability amounts, etc.) to another family member, thereby reducing taxes for the taxpayer and/or their spouse.

You can prepare basic tax returns for your dependants free of charge with UFile. A basic return includes, for instance, the reporting of...

  • Income from the following information slips:

    • T4 (employment)

    • T3 (trust)

    • T4A (pension, retirement, annuity, and other)

    • T4A(OAS) (old age security)

    • T4A(P) (CPP/QPP)

    • T5 (investment)

  • Other employment income such as tips

  • Deductions or credits to be claimed or transferred, such as:

    • Child care

    • Education

    • Donations

    • Medical

    • Infirmity/disability

    • Capital gains (or losses)

Individuals who do not match UFile's definition of a dependant must file separately, using UFile with their own user ID and password and entering their own tax information.

Good job on the Web program!

It served our family and our parents excellently. Quick, easy, and most importantly, it saved us some money, as I was not aware of some deductions that the program made for us.
