The Notice of Assessment (NOA) is the summary the CRA sends after processing your tax return.

It confirms your income, refund or balance owing, and your RRSP room for the year ahead.

It's worth keeping, since lenders and benefit programs often ask for it as proof of income.

Your RRSP has an expiry date.

You must convert an RRSP to a retirement income option such as a RRIF by December 31 of the year you turn 71.

Alternatively, you can buy an annuity or withdraw the cash, which gets taxed as income.

Act in time and contact your financial institution to arrange your preferred option.

The total percentage of shares entered for all corporate officers combined cannot exceed 100%.

This includes all individuals and entities listed under the following categories:

  • Directors
  • Signing Officers
  • Director and Signing Officer
  • Shareholder(s) – Individual
  • Shareholder(s) – Corporation(s) or Other
Important:
Make sure the share percentages across all of these roles add up to no more than 100% before filing.
👤
Did you know?

If the same person is both a Director and a Signing Officer of the corporation, you do not need to enter them on two separate lines.

Simply select the combined option "Director and Signing Officer" for that person in a single entry under the Corporate Officers section.

Important:
Entering the same person twice under separate roles could cause the total share percentage to exceed 100%, which may result in an error or rejection of your return.
Example

If Person A holds 60% of shares and serves as both a director and a signing officer, enter them once as:

Director and Signing Officer – 60%

Do not enter them separately as Director at 60% and Signing Officer at 60%, which would incorrectly total 120%.
