1. Go to the “Sign in to UFile” page

 

2. Click on “Did you forget your password?”

 

3. Enter your username and then confirm: “I am not a robot”

 

 

4. Complete the security question answer. Click “Submit”
Once you have completed these steps, you will receive an email with the reset information.

 

 

In the password reset email, you will find a link that will allow you to reset your password:

1. Click on the link in the email received for the reset:
2. This link will open a page where you must enter a NEW password and enter it again
3. Click on the box “I am not a robot,” then “Reset”

 

4. You will see a confirmation message that confirms you have successfully reset your password

Click on “sign in” to return to UFile and log on normally with the same username and new password.

To use the Google Authenticator to secure an account, you need to have a compatible Android or iOS mobile device. The official Google Authenticator app only supports mobile devices, you cannot use it on your PC. The Google Authenticator app works with your Google account, as well as most other services.

1. Visit: secure.ufile.ca/account/login
2. Enter your username and password
3. Click “Sign in”
4. On the tax years page, click the “Settings” menu (the wheel located in the upper right-hand corner of the page)
5. Choose the option “Two-Factor authentication”

 

6. On the new page, click “Enable authenticator”

 

You will receive a recovery key.

VERY IMPORTANT! The key will only be displayed once. If you no longer have access to your Two-Factor authentication application, you can use the recovery key to disable the option “Two-Factor authentication.”

To update your profile (change your email, your security question, etc.) please follow the following instructions:

1. Visit: https://secure.ufile.ca/account/login?lang=en
2. Enter your username and password
3. Click “Sign in”
4. On the tax years page, click the “Settings” menu (the wheel located in the upper right-hand corner of the page)
5. Choose the option you need to update and click on it
6. Follow the instructions and complete the required fields

To run UFile for Windows, system requirements are:
* Windows 10 or Windows 11
* 250 MB of available disk space
* Display screen resolution of 1024 x 768 or greater
* Internet access is required to NETFILE/EFILE your return and obtain the latest software updates

UFile for Windows can be installed on up to 2 computers.

To access Auto-fill My Return, you must have a CRA My Account. Once logged into UFile, download your tax information securely from the CRA using the simple step-by-step wizard. UFile will Auto-fill your tax slip information in your return. It is very important for you to verify all the slips to make sure there are no duplication or omissions. Dependants are members of the taxpayer’s family unit, usually children, parents or other relatives, who have the same mailing address and who are being supported by the designated family head and/or their spouse.

These dependant individuals may be able to transfer certain tax credits (e.g. tuition fees, medical expenses, charitable donations, disability amounts, etc.) to another family member for optimization purposes.

You can prepare basic tax returns for your dependants as part of your family by clicking the button “+ add dependant".

NOTES:

* You should pay only for the dependants who must prepare and send their returns to the CRA/Revenu Québec.

* If a child or a parent is not supported by the designated family head and/or their spouse, they should be entered in the program separately as a distinct family unit.
